Secrets To Dog Training

The Essential Tools You’ll Require For Your Brand New Puppy

It is always exhilarating to acquire a new puppy but you will want to be set to teach your puppy and teach him to be a valued member of your family. Before you bring your new puppy back home there are a few things that you will need to consider. It is easier to have the stuff that you will need on hand rather than to try to get them afterward.

If you go to the pet store you will see that there are plethora of dog products that you can buy. Some of these are practical to have and others are just a waste of money.

Probably the most imperative item that you will want is a crate. Dogs like to have their own space that is snug and comfy just for them. All of your training will be easier if you utilize a crate. Get one that is the proper size for your puppy. If you take your puppy with you in the automobile very often you may want to get two.

A collar and a leash are also imperative. Get one everyday collar that fits correctly and save any special training collars for later. One six-foot, perhaps retractable leash that is snug for your hand is also essential.

Try to find out what your puppy is used to eating and get enough of that for a couple of weeks. All nutritional changes should be made gradually. Get a food and water dish also. Stainless steel is more often than not the best.

For training purposes, you will need some type of aversive, or something that you can use do discourage disobedient behavior. An aversive is something that your dog does not like and will work to shun but something that will not hurt him. A clicker that makes a noise or a squirt bottle will work as an aversive. You will also need some soft treats that you can use as a reward in training.

Puppies also need to chew, so you will want to get some chewing objects and some toys. You may want to just start with one or two until you notice what your puppy really likes. After your puppy settles in you will soon know what things work best for his personality.

The first few days after you bring your puppy home will be easier if you have the stuff that you need on hand. You will want to start training immediately so it will be easier if you are equipped.
