Secrets To Dog Training

How To Train A Yorkie

As a breed of small dogs, Yorkies are pretty cute. The problem is, although they are quite popular, many Yorkie owners do not properly understand how to properly train a Yorkie. Hence it’s super important for you to know how to train well that cute little Yorkie.

It’s no secret that these unique little dogs are so fun and amazing. One of the neat things about Yorkies is that they are amazing companion dogs and just love to hang out with you where ever you are. Unfortunately, their strong attachment to you can contribute to dominant behaviours if they are not properly trained. Socializing this breed of dog then becomes a priority otherwise they might become aggressive.

Who is in charge in the relationship should be established right away. You must take control of your home, assuming the role of the alpha male in the pack. Your little Yorkie will try to take charge and steal that role from you. At any cost, do not let that happen. Your dog needs to know that you are in charge of your home.

You need to make your boundries known to the Yorkie and to also exert your control as the pack leader. Take a look at a few ideas to establish your alpha leadership over your dog:

Do not let the Yorkie dictate when it is fed: you establish a time and stick with it.

Try to have walks at least twice a day with your Yorkie. Have command of the walks, though–not the Yorkie. To put it simply: don’t let your Yorkie walk you. When training a Yorkie, it’s important for you to show dominance. Don’t allow the Yorkie to pull on the chain or tug you in the direction of their choice-you must control the walk. As well, control of the leash is vital.

Small dogs, especially Yorkies, love to jump on people and furniture. To do this follow these points: It is essential that you set boundaries that do not allow them to do this. Put coins in a can and when they do jump, throw it in their direction and have it make noise. Do this every time they jump, and they will stop.

The basics of going in and out of the house: You must disacknowledge your Yorkie when you come in and out of the house. When your Yorkie is relaxed and calm–only then, can you give them the attention they crave.

Make sure that you establish yourself as the alpha-pack leader and training a Yorkie will be a snap.
