Secrets To Dog Training

Dog Behavior Problems – Why They Have To Be Dealt With Quickly

Most often than not, dog owners have to take care of some issues regarding dog behavior problems. You might find that your dog is stubborn and needs more attention to be toilet trained, or your adorable little puppy shreds your favorite pair of shoes or your kids most loved toy, or for that matter anything that takes his fancy. Most often it is possible for you to deal with these problems with a little effort and patience. But sometimes, some dog behavior problems become so severe that you have to get the assistance of a professional dog trainer. Once you realize that you need a professional, it is better to consult him as soon as possible.

When I decided to adopt a pooch, I was prepared to face some dog behaviour problems as I was aware that adopted puppies could have some psychological problems. This is because most of them were obviously abandoned by someone and many have been discarded more than once. And unfortunately, some of them are even abused by their owners and almost all the shelter puppies have issues regarding trust, which makes them to act irrationally.

In the case of the dog I bought, the canine behavior issues didn’t start right away. She seemed pretty well-trained for the most part. Then all of a sudden, the dog behavior problems started. I don’t know what set it off, but suddenly she was afraid to see me leave the apartment. I think she was worried that I would not come back.

If I left for even five minutes, she would literally go crazy. She would run around, howling, running into things, peeing on the floor, and acting out in any way she could. It was a serious dog behavior problem because I lived with house mates. They don’t want to have to put up with my dog’s insane behavior.

The professional said that persistence and patience is the only way to solve this dog behavioral problem. As advised, I would leave the apartment after telling my dog that I would be back soon and as said, I will come back after 20 seconds.

Apparently, I had already been on the right track for treating my dog’s behavior problems. The key was persistence. I hadn’t really realized how much work it would take. My trainer told me to always tell my dog that I would be right back using the the same words each time I left. First I would leave for 20 seconds and come in the door, than 30 seconds, then a minute, and slowly on up to an hour. It took weeks and greatly inconvenienced me, but eventually I was able to do it. Nowadays, she is very well behaved.
