Dogs have many habits that can be annoying and upsetting to their owners. Some of these disturbing behaviors include: chewing on furniture and clothing, running away, constant barking, and urinating in the house. However, most of these behavioral issues can be avoided entirely if you just take the time to train your dog while he or she is still a puppy. Consistence is everything. Dogs should be rewarded for good behavior and given appropriate consequences for the negative behavior. One technique that is quite productive is to lavish your dog with attention when they are acting appropriately, and ignore them when their behavior is not suitable. This typically leads to improved behavior, as dogs crave their owner’s attention. However, the problem of digging is one that some dogs will end up having despite your best training efforts.
